Peace to all of us,

A special moment to all of us that we can find the most complete exhibition of Indonesian crafts, The 21th Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair (INACRAFT 2019) on April 24-28 2019 at the Jakarta Convention Center. INACRAFT in two decades its implementation has contributed significantly to the ecosystem of handicraft industry in Indonesia.

The Creative Economy Agency (BEKRAF) has done created ecosystem of creative economy. Developing the ecosystem is responsible of its Department due to the respective duties and functions. An action to educate craftmen, creative and innovative program through Nusantara Collaboration (IKKON) and also CREATE as form of live in designer, then ORBIT generation of Indonesia’s future designers. To support the new Deputy Research and Education Development has dutied implementing these programs. The Deputy for Capital Access has also launched the Government Incentive Assistance Program (BIP) in the form of additional working capital and / or investment assets to 13 start ups in the Craft sub-sector in 2018. Independent Evaluation of the District of Indonesia Creative Cities from the Deputy for Infrastructure has placed Handicraft as a leading sub-sector in Banjarmasin, Cilegon, Pekalongan, Sabang, South Tangerang, Bantul, Batang, South Konawe, West Manggarai, Pemalang, Sikka and Rembang.

Craft exhibitions under of KOPIKKON (IKKON Cooperative) and IDentities both at the National level such as Inacraft and abroad such as ‘New York Now’ have been facilitated by the Marketing Deputy. The Deputy for Facilitating Intellectual Property Rights and Harmonization of Regulations in collaboration with Professional Certification Institutions (LSP) held certification for batik artisans to increase competitiveness at the national and international level. Finally, the Deputy of Inter-Institutional and Regional Relations has facilitated travel grants to handicraftpreneurs and producers to participate in many craft exhibitions held overseas and will facilitate the formation of craft actors associations.

In this case, the IKKON program specifically deals with the objectives of INACRAFT, which is to encourage and help develop the potential of the local creative economy. Therefore, BEKRAF participated at INACRAFT 2019 as exhibitors and included our partners who are members of KOPIIKKON (IKKON Cooperative) which are located in various regions in Indonesia in order to be able to learn from each other, share, interact, explore and collaborate in order to promote quality creative economic products from their respective regions so that all parties involved receive ethical benefits sharing that is sustainable.

Finally, on behalf of BEKRAF, I congratulate all parties involved in the INACRAFT 2019 exhibition. Let us together create a strong and independent creative economy in order to be able to lift the nation’s competition globally and build pride in domestic products.
